6 Celebrities Who Love UK Caravan Holidays – from Shane Richie and Danny Dyer, to Stacey Solomon and Gemma Collins

By Sophie Green - 5 December 2025
Sophie Green is the Marketing Manager at Tingdene Holiday Parks. Having grown up on the Norfolk coast and now living near Norwich, she combines local knowledge with over a decade of industry experience to share trusted travel insights and holiday home inspiration across the UK. A frequent visitor to Tingdene’s holiday parks in Norfolk, Suffolk, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, and Essex, Sophie is passionate about promoting the natural beauty, local heritage, and relaxed holiday lifestyle across the UK.
Caravan holidays have been a UK favourite for decades, with many of us enjoying fond memories of childhood staycations in a static caravan
And it’s not just us – this list of celebrities have a habit of swapping long-haul flights for UK coastlines, countryside escapes and good old British charm.
From down-to-earth family breaks to nostalgic trips back to childhood, here are six stars who love nothing more than a caravan getaway.

1. Shane Richie
Holiday-Park Entertainer Turned National Treasure
Before the fame, before Alfie Moon, before prime-time TV and stage stardom, Shane Richie was a kid looking forward to his annual caravan holiday with his parents. His love of holiday parks runs deep, beginning his career as an entertainer on an Isle of Wight holiday park.
From there, he moved into stand-up comedy, earning an early British Comedy Award nomination, and eventually became a household name through EastEnders, game shows and pantomime. But caravanning has always been part of who he is.
Caravanning With Shane Richie
In his Channel 5 travelogue, Caravanning with Shane Richie, Shane takes friends and family on a mission to show the UK what modern caravan holidays are really like. Forget the old stereotypes—Shane shines a spotlight on stylish lodges, cosy static caravans, and the warm community feel of holiday parks today.
He chats to owners and guests to discover their reasons for choosing UK getaways and shares his own fond memories:
“We’ve got all these fantastic places on our doorsteps in the UK so I thought it would be great to give a bit of a personal insight and offer some tips and share my own experiences.”

Series 2 takes Shane to North Yorkshire (right on the doorstep of our very own Redcar Beach Caravan Park), and is packed full of nostalgia, seaside fun and everything that makes a caravan holiday unforgettable.
2. Danny Dyer
Danny Dyer has taken on plenty in his career, from London hardmen to Shakespearean kings, and even reality-TV drama. But his newest role might just be the most surprising. He’s turning his hand to running a holiday caravan park, teaming up with his daughter Dani in a brand-new Sky Original series, set to be released in 2026.
Fuelled by childhood nostalgia and a genuine love for caravanning, Danny and Dani dive headfirst into the UK holiday-park industry. Their mission? Revive a classic caravan park and bring back the magic Danny remembers from the best holidays of his life.
But running a holiday park is a far cry from life on EastEnders. Danny soon finds himself juggling everything from lively guests to entertainment mishaps and menu makeovers. His big vision doesn’t always align with his business partners, residents, or even Dani – but that’s all part of the fun.
With a cast of real holidaymakers and park characters, the series promises heart, humour and plenty of chaos as Danny tries to make the great British holiday cool again.
“What you might not know about me is I love a caravan, and I love a caravan site. So, with my daughter Dani by my side, as the voice of reason, I’m taking charge of one. I’m chucking in a few quid, and will try and make the greatest of British holidays cool again. Now this could be a triumph; or a complete f***ing failure. But there’s only one way to find out and that’s to roll the f***ing dice.“

3. Coleen Rooney
Coleen Rooney may be known for glamorous long-haul holidays, but she’s also a huge fan of classic UK caravan getaways. During her time on I’m A Celebrity in 2024, she revealed that one spontaneous trip changed everything.
After seeing repeated adverts for a family resort, she took her children to the Skegness area on a whim, and they absolutely loved it. Her eldest son Kai even returned to school, declaring it “the best holiday I’ve ever been on.”
Coleen shared that she and Wayne now enjoy caravan breaks in Wales “a couple of times a year,” something she’s loved since childhood.
And if, like Coleen, you’ve fallen for the charm of the Lincolnshire coastline, Mablethorpe Chalet & Caravan Park is a perfect place for your own traditional British seaside escape. With a stunning beach and a relaxed holiday-park atmosphere, it’s exactly the kind of spot families return to year after year.
4. Gemma Collins
She may be TOWIE royalty and a fan of five-star sunshine breaks in Marbella, but Gemma Collins also loves a good old-fashioned British caravan holiday.
Last year, she headed to a static caravan in Clacton-on-Sea with her brother Russell and nephews Hayden and Kane. Gemma posted snaps from the trip, showing off the family’s home for the weekend and sharing her excitement as they explored the park and hit the arcades.
She told fans:
“I’m having the best time in Clacton. Sensational fun—I felt like I was in Vegas, baby!”
If Clacton’s seaside charm appeals to you too, Saddlebrook Chase offers the perfect spot to enjoy your own Great British getaway in the Essex countryside. Peaceful, welcoming and right by the coast, it’s ideal for families and anyone who loves classic seaside breaks.
5. Helen Mirren
She may be an Oscar-winning icon, but Dame Helen Mirren loves nothing more than escaping the spotlight for a peaceful caravanning break.
A proud member of the Caravan Club, Helen has spoken often about her love of the outdoors and the sense of calm she finds on caravan holidays. Her sister also owns a “permanent caravan” in England, which she visits every weekend.
“Caravanning gets me away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We both share a real penchant for it.”

6. Stacey Solomon
Despite their TV and social media success with their beautiful family home, Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have always championed simple, memory-making UK breaks.
Earlier this year, Stacey shared glimpses of a family trip to a coastal holiday park in Kent, proof that you don’t need long-haul flights to have an unforgettable family holiday. She posted sweet moments of the children exploring the park, splashing in the pool and whizzing around in a buggy.
The kids enjoyed themselves so much that, when it was time to leave, they cried their eyes out, meaning Stacey booked an extra night.
That’s the beauty of caravan holidays: freedom, affordability and pure family joy.
