Disc Golf Course Open at Caldecott Hall Country Park in Norfolk

Caldecott Hall Country Park is home to one of the region’s most enjoyable outdoor attractions — a Multi Golf course featuring Disc Golf, Foot Golf and Rugby Golf, all set within a scenic 400-acre estate near Great Yarmouth.

Popular in the USA and New Zealand, Disc Golf is a competitive game that follows the fundamental rules of golf, but with an intriguing twist. Participants must aim to throw a disc, similar to a frisbee, into baskets strategically placed throughout the course.

Holiday home owners, holidaymakers, day visitors and locals alike can revel in the joy and excitement of Disc Golf as it takes centre stage at the 400-acre country estate, nestled between Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

Originally introduced as a Disc Golf course and now expanded to include two additional sports, Multi Golf offers visitors a fun and active way to explore some of Caldecott Hall Country Park. Each activity follows the basic principles of golf, but with its own unique twist:

• Disc Golf
  Throw a flying disc into elevated baskets across a specially designed 9-basket layout.
• Foot Golf
  Use your football skills to navigate the course and sink the ball in oversized cups.
• Rugby Golf
  Advance a rugby ball down the fairway using passes and kicks before aiming for the target.

All three activities have been integrated into our existing par-three, nine-hole golf course, making Caldecott Hall one of the first destinations in the area to offer this combination of sports. With its mix of open fairways, mature trees and peaceful countryside surroundings, the course is ideal for families, beginners and seasoned players alike.

Visitors can relax at Barn 1 Bar & Restaurant, stop by Redwings Horse Sanctuary and Oliver’s Café, enjoy the 18-hole golf course, or make use of our leisure facilities, including an indoor swimming pool.

Multi Golf is open year-round, with all equipment provided on arrival. You can book a round or just turn up, so gather your friends or family, and enjoy an active day in the Norfolk countryside.

Gunton Primary Enjoy a Day of Disc Golf at Caldecott Hall

On Thursday 6th June 2024, we were delighted to welcome Year 6 pupils from Gunton Primary School to the Multi Golf course at Caldecott Hall Country Park. The visit was organised as a reward for the children after completing their SATs, and it turned out to be a hugely positive and memorable day.

“We were able to accommodate Gunton primary free of charge as we were running a scheme for families/schools to try something different in summer. Disc Golf, Foot Golf, and Rugby Golf are unique, inclusive activities that offer children the chance to enjoy good exercise, healthy competition, and fresh air in a safe and supportive environment.“

Gunton brought approximately 50 pupils, and the course was closed to the public during their visit to give the children space to enjoy the experience. They were split into smaller groups and staggered across the 9-hole course, ensuring everyone had a chance to experience the full game.

At the start of the session, many of the children were unsure of how to throw the disc and hesitant to use full power. But by the end, their confidence had grown significantly. Their technique improved, their enthusiasm was infectious, and the sense of achievement was clear. Staff from Gunton Primary were incredibly supportive and helped make the day run smoothly.

Following the visit, Gunton Primary have already expressed interest in making this an annual reward trip for their Year 6 leavers — a clear sign of the event’s success. Their feedback highlighted the session’s positive impact on confidence and enjoyment, and we’ve since had the pleasure of hosting more local school groups.
